After serving 26 years in the Canadian Forces I went a different direction, taking up farming the same as my grandfather did long ago. A few Belted Galloway heifers found their way onto my acreage and into my heart. Over the years the herd has expanded and so has the dedication. Raising livestock has been rewarding and educational. Each has their own personality and I truly appreciate the bounty received when the time comes to butcher one. Along the way I took in a Red Angus bottle calf. Now we are raising a Black Angus bottle calf. Nothing will test your patience, virtue, commitment, and emotions as becoming a surrogate mother. The initial idea was to just provide quality meat for my family & close friends. With the herd growing, summer grazing land needed to be sought and winter hay secured. After receiving feedback about the impressive quality of our Galloway beef, it came time to register as a business in 2020 and hopefully generate further revenue to keep Oreo Acres viable well into the future.
